Mariel Iribe
Mariel Iribe Zenil (Chicontepec, Veracruz, 1983). Vive en Culiacán desde los 11 años. Estudió Ciencias de la Comunicación en la Universidad de Occidente y Lengua y Literatura Hispánicas, así como la Maestría en Historia, en la Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa (UAS). Es doctorante en Historia por la misma universidad.
Ha colaborado en revistas y periódicos como Tierra Adentro, Diario Récord, Mural y Noroeste. Ha sido becaria del Fondo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes de Sinaloa (hoy PECDAS) en 2006 y 2016 y de Veracruz (2009) y del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) en 2010. Ha sido incluida en las siguientes antologías: A fin de cuentos (Instituto Municipal de Cultura de Culiacán, 2007), La letra en la mirada (Instituto Municipal de Cultura de Culiacán, 2009), Cuadernos de periodismo Gonzo (Editorial Almadía, 2011), Lados B (Editorial NitroPress, 2011), Cuentos que se bifurcan (Instituto Sinaloense de Cultura, 2015), 22 voces. Es autora del libro de cuentos El último intento (2013), publicado por la editorial Tierra Adentro, CONACULTA, segunda edición en Dharmabooks, 2022. Su cuento El juego fue adaptado al teatro en 2017 por el dramaturgo y director Miguel Estrada.

She has been a fellow of the State Fund for Culture and the Arts of Sinaloa (today PECDAS) in 2006 and 2016 and of Veracruz (2009) and the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) in 2010. She is the author of the book of short stories The Last Attempt (2013), published by the publishing house Tierra Adentro, CONACULTA, second edition in Dharmabooks, 2022. Her story The Game was adapted for the theater in 2017 by the playwright and director Miguel Estrada.
